My name’s Dr Russell Kennedy, and there’s a good reason I’m known as The Anxiety MD.

I’m a medical doctor who suffered from anxiety (specifically health anxiety) for many years. How's that for a conflict? A doctor who is afraid of illness!

Most people worry about obvious conditions like cancer and heart disease. Those conditions are for amateur health worriers, I am a pro. With over 25 years of medical training and experience (and over 100,000 patient consultations), I worry at a whole new level!

I’ve worried about conditions you’ve never even heard of, like dermatomyositis, or disseminated intravascular coagulation, or necrotizing fasciitis. I have extensive experience as a health worrier, in fact, it's like I have a Ph.D. in hypochondria, not medicine!

As a doctor and sufferer, I know exactly how you feel.

I know firsthand how difficult it is to believe whole-heartedly you are sick and to fixate on it to the point where it significantly impacts your life. 

Health anxiety had my life in a chokehold.

In an effort to fix the problem, I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours in every type of talk therapy imaginable, but it wasn't until I created the simple 3-Step ABCs that my health anxiety really turned a corner.

Most of those talk therapies helped a little, but they never provided me with true long-lasting relief.

And I’ll tell you why...

I was chasing my tail trying to fix my worrisome thoughts with more thoughts. Despite all my degrees and training in medicine, neuroscience and developmental psychology, I found I couldn’t think my way out of a feeling problem. I needed to FEEL my way out.

And that is when I came up with the 3-Step ABCs.

The worrisome thinking is addressed in the ABCs technique, but it is through developing a new FEELING-sense that really allowed me to take control of my health anxiety.

I’ll tell you – as an MD - that this course is nothing you’ve ever seen before.

It is not a combination of other well-known therapies bundled together and labeled with a new name. It is a revolutionary concept based on my own unique an unconventional theory of anxiety. A theory and practice you will soon know like the back of your hand.

The ABCs process is a simple, effective and repeatable three-step technique that creates awareness, a focus on the present moment sensation, with a dedication to observing and changing your FEELING state.

I can tell you from personal and professional experience that once you address and calm the feeling state, the worrisome thinking disappears. Change the feeling and the thinking will follow.

This is different from the vast majority of anxiety programs that teach you that you must change your thinking to change your feeling. I know that trying to change my thinking mind while my body was feeling alarmed was exhausting, and any results I got were temporary, lasting only as long as I could hold the thoughts.

This is not to say that thinking is not important, it absolutely is, but until you address the feeling state, your thoughts are poisoned and will only trap you in more thinking. You and I know what it is like to be trapped in our health worries, right? How often have ever thought to yourself "stop worrying!"

About Dr Kennedy, The Anxiety MD

Dr Russell Kennedy (The Anxiety MD) is a medical doctor who is an expert in anxiety. Dr Kennedy knows anxiety as both doctor and patient, and he became an anxiety expert in an effort to heal his own chronic worry. Along with his MD degree, he has an additional degree in neuroscience and advanced training developmental psychology, but his approach is more ethereal than his formal education would suggest.
